Aquia Inc. Promotes Kalid Tarapolsi to Chief Operating Officer
The longtime Aquia leader will unify delivery, growth, and communications as the SDVOSB scales
WASHINGTON, Aug. 3, 2026 -- Aquia Inc., a digital services firm helping the government modernize and secure systems and processes, today announced the promotion of Kalid Tarapolsi to chief operating officer. In this role, Tarapolsi will oversee delivery, growth, and communications, bringing the company's customer-facing and revenue-generating functions under unified leadership as Aquia expands its work across federal agencies and state governments.
Tarapolsi has been with Aquia since 2021, serving in a progression of leadership roles and most recently as chief growth officer, where he led business development, capture, and strategic partnerships. During his tenure as chief growth officer, Aquia grew revenue 48% year over year in 2025.
"Kalid has helped shape nearly every part of Aquia since our earliest days," said David Maskeroni, co-founder and chief executive officer of Aquia. "He has the rare blend of having broad strategic tenacity with a high EQ, and that's the kind of leader people want to follow. He exemplifies what it means to be an Aquian, and I couldn't be prouder to see him step into this new role."
Tarapolsi brings over 25 years of experience helping government and commercial clients achieve mission-critical objectives, with a background that spans engineering, project and program management, financial management, and business strategy. Nearly half of that career has been spent working internationally, including several years based across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
"As one of the original Aquians, I've gotten to watch this company grow from a handful of people into an organization supporting six federal agencies and several state governments," said Tarapolsi. "I'm honored to take on the role of COO, and even more excited about what’s next for our team."
Tarapolsi holds a master's degree in business administration from Western Governors University and a bachelor's degree in management of information systems from the University of Phoenix. He grew up in the Washington, D.C. area, where he currently resides.
